The cost for the Weekend is $179 per person and includes five delicious organic, vegetarian & vegan meals and two night’s accommodations. Scholarship money may be available.
This is a closed retreat which means no one can come for only a day or a few hours or stay outside the retreat. To maximize the intensity of the experience, the group's collective vibrations of silence build throughout the weekend in the cloistered enviroment.
Please complete the form below to register for the Mid-Atlantic Region's Sailent Retreat Weekend. The Retreat is open to adults, young adults, and mature teenagers 15 years old and above. Sorry, no young children are allowed. No one night stay or daytime only attendees.
After you have registered your check number, please make out your check to Sai Activities and mail your check to: Dr. Michael Rakoff, PO Box 252, Manakin Sabot, VA 23103. Your reservation is not secured until your payment is received and you receive a confirmation eMail.
There is a space for approximately 80 participants, with all beds filled. Rooms typically have 3-5 beds. As this is a Sailent retreat, rooming away from family or friends is encouraged as it helps remove the urge to break silence while in the bedrooms. In the past we have been able to accommodate requests for separate rooms for married couples or persons with medical problems based on total registration. While we try to accommodate special requests, we can not make advanced promises. It always depends on this year's Final registration.
On-site Registration begins at 4 PM on Friday. A potluck dinner, with talking permitted, will be available starting at 5 PM onward. Prepared seva food donations for dinner will be appreciated by attendees.
The evening begins with Bhajans at 7:00 PM. The group officially goes into Sailence when the program begins at 7:30 PM. The group will remain in Sailence (except where noted in the program) until the bell is rung during lunch on Sunday as the program ends.
The Weekend Retreat into silence provides an opportunity to look within during periods amidst Nature, with devotional singing, inspiring speaker, meditation, yoga, individual sadhana and silent opportunities. These spiritual practices help teach us to delve deep into our hearts, quiet our mind, and be with the peace of God within. Delicious, wholesome and fresh vegetarian meals will be served Saturday and Sunday. Accommodations for vegan and most food allergies can be made by the chef if noted on your registration form, a week in advance of the retreat.
The weekend has been described as transforming by previous attendees. In the Stillness of the Heart the Voice of God can be Heard. Take time out of your busy schedule and put down your cell phone to join us and just Be Present. Many previous comments indicated people left the retreat feeling peaceful, renewed and spiritually refreshed.
